About The Position

This being a promotional opportunity, only current UML Employees within the same Bargaining unit are eligible to apply for this position. The Associate Head Coach of Women’s Soccer assists with the organization and supervision of all aspects of the Women’s Soccer team within the parameters designated by the university, the America East Conference and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 5-6 years successful experience in soccer coaching, recruiting and administration at the Division I, II level or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge and application of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Knowledge of techniques and strategies of the sport.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven ability to provide mentoring and leadership to student-athletes and a commitment to student-athlete welfare.
  • Previous playing experience at the Division I level preferred.
  • Familiarity with technology systems for player development, scouting, etc.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and public relations skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all aspects of student-athlete development and performance of the women’s intercollegiate soccer program
  • Serve as the Primary Recruiting Coordinator for all prospective student-athletes domestically and internationally; manages the recruitment schedule and appropriately assigns staff to live and video evaluation.
  • Coordinate and execute recruiting visits.
  • Conduct and supervise practices and player conditioning.
  • Serve as the Scouting Coordinator of future opponents – builds scouting reports, and overseeing other coaching staff in their respective areas of advanced scouting.
  • Devise game day strategies based on the scouting reports with the preparation and implementation of game strategies.
  • Provide appropriate leadership, direction and supervision relevant to the academic progress and personal development of student-athletes within the women’s soccer program.
  • Create a positive and productive environment for the student-athletes.
  • Assist with oversight of administrative functions within the women’s intercollegiate soccer program
  • Work with the media department to execute social media strategy for the women’s soccer program.
  • Liaise with the Compliance Department to ensure adherence to NCAA, America East and UMass Lowell rules and policies.
  • Organize and manage all aspects of program’s camps and clinics.
  • Participate in conference and NCAA meetings.
  • Adhere to all conference and NCAA rules/requirements relevant to the conduct of the intercollegiate soccer program.
  • Prepare information relevant to budgeting, equipment needs, and program concerns.
  • Provide supervision of staff of the women’s intercollegiate soccer program
  • Assign responsibilities to part-time or volunteer staff
  • Participate in promotional and public relations to advance athletic programs
  • Provide assistance with departmental fund-raising.
  • Represent the Department of Athletics at designated University, departmental and community functions.
  • Serve in public relations capacities as needed.
  • Encourage staff and student-athletes to participate in community outreach activities.
  • Build effective partnerships with co-workers throughout the University by freely sharing appropriate information and providing assistance when needed
  • Ensure optimum service to all internal and external partners in response to all requests for service and information
  • Maintain an environment that is welcoming to persons of all backgrounds, nationalities, and roles
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
