About The Position

As an Associate Hardware Engineer, a typical day might include the following: Analyze, design, and develop conventional analog and digital circuits. Conduct simple to moderate design reviews to demonstrate product and circuit robustness. Contribute hardware specifications in support of system level specifications. Write and analyze test plans, executes tests and evaluates test results for use at peer design reviews and project notebooks. Prepare and maintain product documentation, including data sheets, instruction manuals, project notebooks, design and test documentation. Provide work estimates to support project planning. Direct the efforts of technicians. SEL invents, designs, and builds digital products and systems that protect power grids around the world. This technology prevents blackouts and enables customers to improve power system reliability and safety at a reduced cost. Requirements

  • US Citizen Required
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
  • Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
  • Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment
  • Background check results satisfactory to SEL
  • Negative drug test result(s)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge in one or more following areas: -- Analog circuit design, analysis, and simulation -- Digital circuit design, analysis, and simulation -- Microprocessor and FPGA system design -- Data acquisition and mixed system design -- Ethernet and fiber optic communications interface design -- Switching power supply design -- Electromagnetic compatibility and standards compliance experience is a plus -- Hands on experience with prototyping is a plus -- PCB layout experience is a plus
