About The Position

The Associate Engineer will be an experienced member of the Engineering Staff functioning in an Engineering capacity. Associate Engineers are exposed to entry-level hardware, software, quality, and/or system design. This role will utilize existing designs and work with Engineers to make and test new designs, push through the building of prototypes, monitor and make changes based on compliance and engineering testing, and support issues that arise in production and in the field.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Half or more credit hours needed for completion of an Engineering Degree in Electronics, or relevant field is required.
  • 0-2 years of technical experience with substantial performance and aptitude to work in an entry-level Engineering capacity.
  • Must be proficient at documentation.
  • Must possess standard industry knowledge necessary to install, maintain and configure telecom and networking equipment, perform system validation test cases, record results and recreate customer field failures.
  • Applicant must write and speak clearly and concisely, listen to others, respond professionally to feedback, and ask questions to ensure understanding.
  • Able to work a minimum of 20 hours per week during normal business hours.
  • No travel is expected in this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or TCL is a plus.
  • Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support in wiring and installation of new products and their associated applications going forward as products are released.
  • Perform tests to verify performance, procedures, and functional operation of electronics boards and/or proto-type boards and systems.
  • Assemble various types of test beds, test racks, and test sets for use by design engineering group.
  • Update and maintain manufacturing work instructions, update and maintain manufacturing Bills of Material (BOM), verify Mechanical drawings, and draft, write, and submit Engineering Change Orders (ECO) for Engineers.
  • Build-up mechanical assemblies for prototype development, compliance, and beta units, submit prototype orders, order engineering supplies - new ICs, prototype housings, lab supplies, etc., submit New Part Qualification Requests, and/or submit Part Change Requests - from EOL or for adding suppliers.
  • Perform general solder and wire modifications.
  • Other projects and assignments may result and be assigned to accommodate the changing needs of the department and the Company.
