About The Position

Temple University's Office of Vice President for Research is searching for an Associate Grant and Contracts Specialist! Position Summary: The Associate Grants and Contracts Specialist, in the Office of Research’s Pre-Award Research Administration Division, is responsible for the management of pre-award activities for assigned schools and colleges.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, and at least three years of related research administration experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize online financial systems.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, and advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, including advanced spreadsheet and database software skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills, and ability to work with large financial data sets.
  • Excellent communication, customer service and interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse constituent population.
  • Demonstrated organizational and prioritization skills, along with the ability to be task- and detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

  • Processing and monitoring of research grants, contracts and agreements such as continuation applications, no cost extensions and modifications
  • Performing research compliance activities
  • Training of faculty and staff in all aspects of grantsmanship
  • Acting as a liaison between faculty, staff, and outside funders on all grant and contract related matters
  • Assisting faculty and staff with university pre- and post-award requirements and processes
  • Providing assistance in locating funding opportunities from government, non-profit, and industrial/corporate sources
  • Reviewing and interpreting external sponsor guidelines
  • Assisting in proposal preparation
  • Validating completeness of proposals prior to submission
  • Monitoring budgets for compliance with school, university and sponsor regulations
  • Accepting and reviewing award terms and conditions
  • Educating faculty Principal Investigators and research personnel on systems such as NSF Fastlane, NIH Commons and eRA, and on University and Sponsor regulations and guidelines, and updated policy and procedures
  • Preparing internal pre-award related reports
  • Responding to inquiries from executive level University administration concerning specific grant and contract information.
