About The Position

Entry-level data engineers at Thoughtworks partner with senior developers to build, maintain, and test data applications on different projects. They listen thoughtfully to understand the context of a business problem and write clean and iterative code to deliver a powerful end result. They are passionate about the data world and want to learn using the latest tools, frameworks, and offerings. Our entry-level consultants start their careers with the First Year Experience, a year-long program beginning at Thoughtworks University with a three-week immersive training, followed by monthly sessions on specific topics. Thoughtworks values tech talent from diverse backgrounds, welcoming computer science majors with under a year of experience, coding boot camp graduates, or career changers aiming to become seasoned data engineers.

Requirements

• You have a strong foundational knowledge of Python and understand OO concepts.
• You understand analysis, coding and object-oriented concepts.
• You have basic conceptual understanding of data modeling.
• You have awareness of clean-code concepts and practices.
• You have working knowledge of writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• You thrive in a collaborative, flat environment that values transparency, openness, feedback and change.
• You have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge as well as a desire to create meaningful solutions for business problems.
• You are resilient in ambiguous situations and can approach challenges from multiple perspective.

Nice To Haves

• Conceptual knowledge of or exposure to cloud data platforms like Snowflake or Databricks is a plus.

Responsibilities

• You will pair to write clean and iterative code using the best practices in a pair programming environment.
• You will collaborate with fellow team members to build data processing pipelines, addressing clients' challenges.
• You will learn and apply the latest Big Data technology and data engineering practices to solve client problems.
• You will learn and use continuous delivery practices to improve software delivery.
• You will work in collaborative, cross functional teams to build innovative customer experiences and create meaningful change for a variety of clients.
• You will learn to incorporate data quality into your day-to-day work as well as the delivery process.
• You will collaborate within Thoughtworks’ teams as well as with client’s teams, encouraging open communication and advocating for shared outcomes.
