Under the direction of the Deputy Director, the AGPA will support the Office of Legislative and Governmental Affairs by conducting complex analysis and policy work related to California's emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation operations, including issues stemming from the 2025 Southern California fires. The AGPA will develop policy recommendations and executive-level reports, monitor and analyze federal, state, tribal, and local legislation and programs, and coordinate responses to information requests. The incumbent will also research and brief on special executive and international projects, manage sensitive materials, and provide high-level analytical and administrative support to Cal OES leadership and the Governor's Office. The AGPA must have knowledge of Cal OES operations and applicable state and federal laws, regulations, and procedures. Strong analytical, writing, and communication skills are essential, along with sound judgment, initiative, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively. The position requires responsiveness to the needs of Cal OES, other agencies, and the public while supporting the agency's legislative and policy objectives.
