We are seeking an Associate General Counsel to serve as a strategic legal partner across our global organization. In this highly visible role, you will advise business leaders on complex commercial matters, balance risk with opportunity, and help shape how we operate responsibly, compliantly, and collaboratively. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working alongside teams committed to excellence, innovation, and integrity. This is a hybrid position based out of our Global HQ in Rosemont, IL — Mondays and Fridays are remote; Tuesdays through Thursdays are in-office collaboration days . Occasional international travel may be required. #LI-HYBRID

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active license to practice law in the United States.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in commercial transactions, including contract drafting, negotiation, credit, and financing.
  • Broad-based corporate legal experience, including corporate governance and general commercial matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide clear, pragmatic legal guidance to executive and business stakeholders.
  • Proven success managing complex projects and issues involving unfamiliar legal subjects.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence and advise at all levels of the organization.
  • High level of integrity, discretion, and professional judgment.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mergers and acquisitions.
  • Prior in-house experience, particularly within a manufacturing or industrial organization.
  • Exposure to international legal and regulatory issues.

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert legal counsel to business and functional leaders on a broad range of commercial and operational matters.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and interpret complex commercial contracts consistent with Life Fitness’s policies, risk tolerance, and business objectives.
  • Advise leadership on legal implications of strategic initiatives, policies, and processes, ensuring sound governance and compliance.
  • Support financing and credit activities, including the development and management of customer credit and leasing programs.
  • Partner with the mergers and acquisitions team to support all phases of strategic transactions, including due diligence, documentation, and integration.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programs on contract lifecycle management, ethics, and compliance.
  • Build strong cross-functional relationships, serving as a trusted business advisor who balances legal risk with strategic opportunity.
  • Assist the General Counsel in special projects and other initiatives that advance the company’s global legal strategy.
