This position is part of the Office of the General Counsel (OGC), which represents The University of Tennessee, a statewide system of public higher education. This position will be primarily involved in proactively advising administrators at The University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), a statewide academic medical center with principal offices in Memphis, Tennessee. This position will advise on a variety of matters relating to employment law and academic, faculty, and student affairs, including but not limited to academic policies, faculty, staff, and trainees (residents and fellows), employment policies, First Amendment, Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA, ADA, and student conduct. Additionally, this position will support Graduate Medical Education across the state. Specific areas of responsibility will be determined based on University and office needs and the successful candidate’s interests and substantive background. The position is located in Memphis, Tennessee, and much of the work will be for UTHSC. However, responsibilities of the position also will involve advising and traveling to other campuses and institutes in the University system.
