Associate General Counsel – Research
About The Position
Dartmouth Health is seeking an experienced attorney to serve as an Associate General Counsel for the system in the area of Research. This is an exciting opportunity for a research-focused lawyer who has previously thrived in academia or within the academic healthcare environment. Reporting to the Deputy General Counsel of Dartmouth Health with a secondary relationship to the Vice President of Research Operations, the role oversees the legal aspects of research administration, research contracting including sponsored awards, clinical trials, and regulatory research matters, at a world-class academic health system. The Associate General Counsel for Research is vital to protecting the institutional interests of Dartmouth Health while enabling a high performing, compliant and mission-driven research environment. This candidate will be a seasoned research attorney who understands the complexity of federally funded research and academic governance within an integrated health system.
Requirements
- Qualified candidates must hold a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and have prior legal experience in an academic or academic medical center environment.
- Active licensure with a State Bar, as well as the ability to obtain licensure in the New Hampshire Stare Bar within one year of hire.
- A minimum of 6 years of experience is required along with strong legal writing and communication skills.

- Experience in drafting, reviewing and negotiating clinical trial agreements

- Ability to monitor grant and research policies and practices at other institutions to utilize new ideas and technologies
- Collaborative and customer service orientation, able to work collegially with a wide range of stakeholders
