About The Position

The Associate General Counsel for Real Estate and Business Transactions will work closely with the Deputy General Counsel for Real Estate and Business Transactions advising the University on legal rights, obligations, and privileges regarding real estate, construction & renovation, and corporate and business transactions. The position requires a collaborative, detail-oriented, and deadline-driven person with excellent written, analytical, and verbal communication skills, as well as relevant and deep legal knowledge and experience. He/she will proactively identify and mitigate legal risk to protect the organization from undue legal exposure, liability, and financial loss, all the while counseling and working to facilitate the achievement of strategic and operational objectives.

• Excellent written communication skills; strong verbal and written communication skills in presenting complex legal principles in layman's terms to senior administrators.
• Executive presence and strong interpersonal skills; experience interfacing with a wide variety of key stakeholders.
• Strong collaborator and team-oriented.
• Strong work ethic, self-starter, quick study, and ability to manage deadlines.
• J.D. Degree from an accredited law school.
• Current license to practice law in Louisiana.
• Licensed in good standing without any instances of suspension, revocation, censure, or other adverse events in any jurisdiction.
• Minimum five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience as a real estate, construction, and capital projects attorney.
