About The Position

Join our Legal and Compliance team as lead advisor on employment matters to our internal stakeholders, including managing employment litigation with external counsel. This role will report to our VP, Deputy General Counsel for corporate legal and advise on labor and employment matters across the company.

Requirements

  • Must have a J.D. from an ABA-approved law school and be an active member in good standing with the State Bar of California.
  • 10+ years of labor and employment experience, including law firm and in-house experience.
  • Deep, “boots-on-the-ground” expertise in California labor and employment law is required.
  • Demonstrated judgment, personal integrity, discretion regarding confidential matters, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to serve as lead employment counsel and subject matter expert in a high growth environment.
  • Extensive experience drafting and scaling policies, managing workplace investigations, and advising on variable compensation and workforce change strategies (including WARN compliance).
  • You possess a “thick skin,” high EQ, and the ability to project confidence and maintain objectivity when advising senior leadership on sensitive matters.
  • Prior success in a fast-paced environment with limited direction, balance competing priorities, and manage several time-sensitive projects at once.

Responsibilities

  • Advise on a variety of labor and employment law matters, including employee relations, wage and hour, compensation and benefits, performance management, disciplinary actions, leaves and accommodations, recruiting, restrictive covenants and contingent workers.
  • Partner with our People Team to support day-to-day employee lifecycle matters.
  • Draft, review and update employment related policies and agreements, including our employee handbook and our variable compensation plans.
  • Support global employment matters in France, India, the United Kingdom, and manage contingent worker matters hired through PEOs with assistance from local counsel.
  • Evaluate and scale current employment processes.
  • Support workplace investigations and disputes.
  • Actively monitor legislation, regulations, case law, and government enforcement activities relating to employment issues and provide proactive, strategic advice to the relevant stakeholders as necessary.
  • Support employment compliance matters.
  • Prepare and provide training on various employment law matters to internal stakeholders.
  • Provide employment law support for corporate transactions.
