About The Position

The position involves drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of contracts, including those with government agencies and private third parties. The role provides strategic legal guidance to internal stakeholders and aims to make a meaningful impact through thoughtful contract management and legal risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited law school and active bar membership in Nebraska.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney, including substantial experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contracts.

  • Experience working with government contracts, including understanding state and federal procurement processes.
  • Strong understanding of the unique regulatory, privacy, and risk management challenges in the healthcare and social services sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Drafts, reviews, and finalizes a wide range of contracts, including service agreements, government contracts, vendor agreements, construction contracts, data use agreements, business associate agreements (BAAs), clinical services agreements, physician services agreements, healthcare contracts, joint venture agreements, clinical trial agreements, grant contracts, and MOUs.
  • Ensures compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational requirements.
  • Leads contract negotiations, working closely with internal stakeholders to develop negotiation strategies that align with organizational priorities and risk tolerance.
  • Fosters positive relationships with government agencies, healthcare organizations, and other external partners.
  • Conducts thorough legal research to support contract negotiations, including analysis of federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provides strategic guidance on contract structure, risk management, and negotiation tactics.
  • Stays current on emerging legal issues impacting contracts related to cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, data privacy, and digital health technologies.
  • Supports continuous improvement of contract management processes, including template development, process documentation, and training for internal teams.
  • Assists with contract disputes, terminations, amendments, and compliance reviews as needed.
  • Reports directly to the General Counsel, collaborating closely with legal, compliance, and finance teams.
