About The Position

Associate General Counsel – Commercial Real Estate The Huntington Legal Department is seeking an experienced attorney to support Huntington’s Commercial Real Estate (CRE) team. Huntington CRE provides comprehensive financing and banking solutions to commercial real estate owners, developers, operators, and investors across Huntington’s footprint and on a national basis.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree and JD required.
Licensed to practice law and in good standing in the state/jurisdiction in which the position is based or otherwise in compliance with the in-house counsel registration rules of that state/jurisdiction.
A minimum of 10 years of law firm or in-house legal department experience advising financial institutions.

Responsibilities

Serve as a trusted advisor to CRE leadership, helping CRE implement its strategic initiatives.
Support and advise CRE on structuring, documentation and servicing commercial real estate financing transactions, including construction loans, acquisition financing, bridge loans and term loans.
Establish and maintain forms and procedures governing external counsel support of CRE and assist in development and management of Huntington’s program for management of external counsel relationships.
Advise CRE specialty lending verticals, including Community Impact Capital (Affordable Housing) and Builder Finance, on applicable regulatory and documentation requirements.
Advise Operations colleagues on issues arising in customer onboarding, document preparation, loan closing, and loan servicing for CRE customers.
Partner with Risk, Credit, Operations, Technology and Compliance colleagues regarding operational and regulatory risk and control issues and the applicability of federal and state laws and regulations.
Advise the business with respect to new products and services and related legal and regulatory matters.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholder groups; and
Work in partnership with other members of the Commercial Legal Team to establish best practices across all Huntington Commercial Bank businesses.
