The School of Education at Dalton State College seeks applications for tenure-track Associate or full Professor of Classical Education & Alternative Educational Philosophies position beginning January 1, 2025 or August 1, 2026. The start date is negotiable. Candidates focus in teaching will be alternative educational philosophies/methods to include, but are not limited to: Classical Education, Dual Language Immersion, and the Finnish Model. Faculty may also be tasked with teaching general education or freshmen experience courses. Candidates must be prepared to teach undergraduate-level courses in a variety of topics. Currently, the College is seeking approval to offer a limited number of graduate programs. If the College receives approval, the School of Education will submit for approval of an MEd/MAT. Candidates must be prepared to teach graduate courses in alternative educational philosophies/methods to minimally include Classical Education. Preferred candidates will be able to teach and research in each of the alternative philosophies / pedagogies listed. Faculty workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth. This position will include limited funding for extra resources for functions supported by the position. The rank (associate/full) professor is commensurate with educational background, expertise, and experience in higher education. Review of the applications will begin October 24, 2025.
