About The Position

The Iowa State University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a post‑graduate Associate position supporting our Academic Services program. Designed similarly to a post‑grad internship, this role offers meaningful exposure to the professional landscape of collegiate athletics through a full-time, progressive, hands‑on learning experience. We are seeking hardworking, responsible, and motivated candidates interested in contributing to student‑athlete’s academic journey. The Associate will assist in various phases the of collegiate athletics academic services program, while operating in full compliance with NCAA, Big 12, and university policies. What you’ll do: The successful candidate must possess high academic integrity, effective communication and multi-tasking skills, ability to work collaboratively and maintain confidentiality, and be highly organized. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. This position requires the ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. About the Athletics Department As an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision athletics program and a founding member of the Big 12 Conference, Iowa State University sponsors 18 intercollegiate athletics teams and supports 450 student-athletes in their pursuit of academic and athletic excellence. ISU Athletics employs over 250 talented and dedicated full-time staff members, more than 500 temporary and student employees, and multiple auxiliary partners who collaboratively work within a culture to support and enhance the experiences of Cyclone student-athletes and their loyal fan base. Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an academic support program in higher education.
  • Experience working directly in collegiate athletics with NCAA academic rules.
  • Degree in related field such as education, counseling, or English.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule academic support sessions, ensuring students receive timely access to needed resources.
  • Identify and evaluate the academic needs of at‑risk students to inform appropriate support plans
  • Compile and maintain accurate progress reports to track student performance and engagement
  • Participate in regular meetings with academic coordinators, students and coaches to review goals, progress, challenges, and next steps
  • Monitor student academic standing and flag concerns to the appropriate staff for follow‑up
  • Assist with academic projects as assigned
  • Help foster an environment that supports the welfare, personal development, and academic success of student-athletes
