Requirements

  • Associate degree in Construction Technology, Industrial Technology, or Engineering Technology from a technical college or institution.
  • Must be familiar with technical measurement, surveying, and reading and interpreting construction plans.
  • Works independently in the field with oversight by the engineer of record and project manager.
  • Able to perform observation duties for construction projects, recording data, taking measurements, and verify activities & quantities in relation to plan and specification documents.
  • Accurate in verbal and written communication.
  • Able to effectively communicate information to co-workers and contractors.

Nice To Haves

  • More extensive survey or CAD experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to the engineering functions of the firm.
  • Knowledgeable of methods used in taking field measurements, observing construction projects, and generally provides field and office technical 'hands-on' activities to carry out the firm's work.
  • Field work will primarily consist of construction observation and documentation of work in progress, keeping daily records of quantities and activities, verifying material specifications, and ensuring compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Field measurements for record drawings and verifying compliance to plan will utilize some survey equipment, such as GPS, optical or laser lever, and hand tools, such as measuring rod and tape.
  • Office work may include review of drawings or specifications as part of our QC/QA program.
  • Maintain equipment used in the field and in the office.
  • May assist with copying, making plan sets, filing, library maintenance, or other duties as assigned.
  • A team player and understands the need to maintain client confidentiality of all project work.
