About The Position

The Associate Engineering Technician at Novo Nordisk plays a crucial role in supporting the safe work permitting process within the facility. This position involves performing various tasks related to Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, and maintaining operational standards. The technician will work in a dynamic environment, contributing to the safety and efficiency of manufacturing operations while adhering to quality and environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of relevant experience in engineering technology, maintenance, manufacturing or utilities required.
  • Knowledge & experience in the operations, &/or maintenance of utilities &/or manufacturing equipment preferred.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (FDA, cGMP, OSHA) preferred.
  • Ability to read/review and understand P&ID, PFD, electrical schematics required.
  • Strong communication skills across multiple organizational levels preferred.
  • Understanding of Safe Work Practices required.
  • Experience identifying and isolating hazards (LOTO) preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's degree in mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or relevant field of study preferred.
  • Willingness to join and actively participate in the Emergency Response Team (ERT) preferred.
  • Willingness to join and actively participate as Health & Safety Representative (HSR) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support for the safe work permitting process for the facility.
  • Perform Permit Vision for work requests and process through the permit life cycle including review/approve/issue permits.
  • Review/approve/execute ICCs (LOTO) and review/approve Flush & Drain Plans.
  • Recognize conditions of work that require Lockout/Tagout.
  • Assess all hazardous energy sources in machines, equipment, and systems.
  • Use documented procedures and approved isolation devices to implement Lockout/Tagout.
  • Adhere to key elements of OSHA regulations known onsite as the Ten Life Safety Rules.
  • Support identification of hazards and associated mitigation plans.
  • Maintain standards & operational procedures for the Central Permit Office (CPO).
  • Work daily with computer programs to perform tasks (Microsoft Office suite, CMMS (SAP), Permit Vision, Robex, etc.).
  • Follow all safety and environmental requirements in the performance of duties.
