National Grid is hiring an Associate Engineer to join our collaborative MA Gas Engineering team in the Central region, based in Waltham, MA. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of two days per week in the office.Our TeamWe develop and manage the design and engineering for pipeline projects within the New England Central distribution territory. Our high-performing team is made up of civil and mechanical engineers of all skill and experience levels and are working under the supervision and mentorship of Professional Engineers. What You'll Do Develop and coordinate designs for natural gas engineering projects to enhance our distribution system Assess project scopes to identify local permitting requirements and infrastructure risks early in the design process, ensuring a comprehensive, high-quality, and safe project outcome Manage multiple projects and prioritize work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders Design and prepare construction drawings as part of the internal design workflow, using AutoCAD and adhering to National Grid standards and industry best practices Manage external engineering design firms and ensure their construction drawings are prepared in accordance with company and industry standards, and comply with any state and municipal requirements Review construction standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards Participate in our Engineering Competency Development Program (ECDP) – training program to learn fundamental gas work knowledge About You ABET-accredited B.S. Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering required at start date Graduating Seniors will be expected to have a start date no later than August 1, 2026 Experience, including co-ops and/or internships, in civil or mechanical engineering role is preferred, but not required Proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite is preferred Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD design software for 2D modeling Familiarity with ArcGIS software is preferred but not required Familiarity with Power Automate, VBA, and SQL is desired, but not required Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification preferred or demonstrated ability to obtain within one year Valid driver’s license required More Information#LI-AP1 #LI-HybridSalary $83,000 - $98,000 a year Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA).
