As an Associate Engineer in the Test Hardware group, you will drive the development and maturity of the Test system required to deliver Ayar Labs' next generation SuperNova and TeraPHY products. The role is primarily software focused and your responsibilities include writing Python software to automate experimental runs and analyses. The candidate is expected to work closely with hardware engineers in the test team to help them consolidate, standardize and test existing/new instrument drivers and test recipes. You will be joining a small team in a dynamic startup environment, where each member is able, and expected, to take on a wide range of responsibilities and to learn and grow with the company.

  • Write Python software to automate experimental runs and analyses. The candidate is expected to work closely with the test team to help them consolidate, standardize and test existing/new instrument drivers and test recipes.
  • Troubleshoot Tester issues related to optical instrumentation, electrical components, or software
  • Identify gaps in test coverage, design, and flow. Implement new tests to improve coverage
  • Optimize test flows and processes to enable volume manufacturing
  • Work with Ayar Labs Data Engineering to ensure that test results flow smoothly into internal database
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Hardware test experience
  • Experience with Python and familiar with C/C++ or Java
  • Experience with instrument communication protocols (GPIB, RS232, USB, etc.)
  • Experience writing and debugging programs for instrument control
  • Experience with software version control, Git
  • Experience working with MongoDB and SQL databases like PostGresSQL
  • MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • Experience with chip communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, etc.)
  • Experience with test and measurement of photonics, optics, and electronics
  • Working knowledge of basic data structures and algorithms
  • Experience working in Linux environments
