Associate Engineer Product Design
About The Position
Kennametal, Inc. is seeking an Associate Engineer - Product Engineering - to join the Global Solutions Engineering Group. This role involves reviewing customer tool requests, developing tooling concepts for custom engineered solutions, including metal cutting drills and steel products for turning and milling, and providing completed quotations for these tools. The position requires working both independently and collaboratively with various teams such as Sales, Application Engineers, Customers, Material Sciences, and Manufacturing.
Requirements
- Practical experience interpreting technical drawings and engineering specifications
- Knowledge of geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Advanced mathematics and understanding of close tolerance manufacturing processes such as pressing, sintering, grinding, milling, turning, etc.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the US (excluding Optional Practice Testing) and not require sponsorship now or in the future
Nice To Haves
- A bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred
- At least two (2) years of experience in a related position is preferred
- Experience with 3D modeling and/or CAD/CAM software is also desired
- Knowledge of machining processes and carbide cutting tools are a plus
