Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a first shift for a Associate/ Manufacturing Engineer Level 1/2 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position will be located in Clearfield, UT. This position supports a Monday - Thursday. Schedule 4 x 10 from 6:00am to 4:30pm. The selected candidate will provide critical support in a high-volume high-mix production environment, working closely with Operations, Quality, Industrial Engineering, Scheduling and Maintenance. Our goal is to minimize downtime on the production line by troubleshooting, problem solving, and proactively identifying areas of concern. Our engineers work to continuously improve their processes, eliminating process variation and waste while building in quality. Join us in the team effort to meet our production goals! This role can be filled at a Associate Manufacturing Engineer Level 1 or Manufacturing Engineer Level 2 depending on the qualifications below.

Requirements

  • Associate Manufacturing Engineer (Level 1): Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 0 year or experience.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance per company and business needs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) per company and business needs
  • Manufacturing Engineer (Level 2): Bachelor's degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 1 year or experience in the following engineering fields; Manufacturing, Quality, Production, Industrial, Chemical, Systems, Process, Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautics OR Masters with 0 years of experience.
  • Experience with Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Clearance per company and business needs
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (PAR) per company and business needs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with composite manufacturing
  • Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications
  • Working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • Experience working with/programming Fanuc or similar robots
  • Experience using Catia V5 or similar CAD software
  • Experience using Solumina G8 or similar
  • Demonstrated understanding of root cause / corrective action processes and techniques
  • Experience using RCCA tools such as Five Why, Pareto, fishbone, etc.
  • Experience drafting, maintaining, and modifying work instructions and/or process specification

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to develop and implement process improvements as well as support site initiatives.
  • Work closely with manufacturing personnel in the highly automated production of composite aerospace components.
  • Author, modify, and audit shop floor electronic work instructions (EWIs).
  • Perform root cause and corrective action (RCCA) activities to permanently eliminate defects.
  • Troubleshoot production/equipment/program/tooling issues and implementing improvements and solutions.
