About The Position

The Associate Engineer, GMS/SCADA Operations, within RWE Clean Energy ensures the daily operations of our plant systems for battery energy storage, solar, and wind projects of RWE Clean Energy and its customers are operating with the highest quality for the entire life cycle - from the development phase to operation. This position executes on the design, support, and integration of our projects in our GMS system within RWE Clean Energy. In this position, you will be key in the design, maintenance, and improvements of our monarch generation management system. You will be implementing project-specific requirements, services and functionalities required by the plants, determine the most suitable SCADA concept for interconnection, and ensure the control system meets the requirements of our operational teams.

Requirements

  • Preferred, not required Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.
  • Advanced degrees can reduce technical experience requirements (Masters = 2 years credit, Doctorate = 3 years credit). Professional Engineer (PE) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) or ability to obtain license/charter within one year.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in monarch generation management may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
  • Basic understanding of plant controls/GMS/EMS concepts, telemetry signals, and control room functions.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.).
  • Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
  • Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools.
  • Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to manage customer relationships.
  • Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Teams.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the configuration of plant control systems, including signal mapping, alarm logic, and operator display basics.
  • Support data quality efforts by validating telemetry points, reporting discrepancies, and maintaining logs.
  • Learn and protocols such as DNP3, OPC, and ICCP under the guidance of senior engineers.
  • Participate in commissioning tasks, including point-to-point checks, patch tracking, and field-device validation.
  • Maintain and organize engineering documentation, diagrams, and compliance checklists.
  • Shadow senior engineers in interfacing with utilities, RTOs, and control center staff.
  • Attend training sessions and learning toward basic system troubleshooting and design understanding.
