About The Position

You will join a collaborative team delivering gas turbine retrofit projects using Emerson’s Ovation product line, gaining hands‑on experience with real‑world applications, control strategies, and system design.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or STEM degree
  • Interest in controls engineering, troubleshooting, and power generation systems.
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and grow in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across disciplines.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as needed to support projects.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States. Must be a U.S. Citizen or U.S. Permanent Resident (Green Card holder). Emerson will not petition for H-1B or any other visa for this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework, internships, or hands-on project experience related to control systems, automation, or power systems.
  • Exposure to software testing, HMI design, or system validation.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems or programming languages such as ladder logic, function block, or structured text.
  • An interest in power generation technology, sustainability, or modernization of legacy infrastructure.
  • Ability to analyze data, troubleshoot issues, and apply engineering principles to solve problems.

Responsibilities

  • Learn combustion turbine operations, mechanical fundamentals, and system behavior to support controls development.
  • Build foundational knowledge of combustion turbine control strategies used in modern power generation systems.
  • Develop application code solutions and contribute to real-world project deliverables.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and testing HMI control screens that support operator visibility and decision‑making.
  • Support software testing, troubleshooting, and application validation using historical and live system data.
  • Contribute to the development of software standards, templates, and best practices to improve consistency and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—internally and externally—to support successful project execution.
  • Receive mentorship and hands‑on guidance from experienced controls engineers as you build technical depth and engineering judgment.
