About The Position

Are you ready to dive into the world of Fleet Engineering and make a real impact at National Grid? As an Associate Engineer in Fleet Asset Management, you’ll help keep our fleet running smoothly, sustainably, and safely. In this role you’ll provide engineering support across the full lifecycle of fleet vehicles and equipment — from vehicle specifications, sourcing and acquisition, through maintenance, incident analysis, and disposal. The position combines field work in vehicle yards with cross‑functional collaboration across operations, procurement, and suppliers and manufacturers. Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution
  • Graduated between May 2025 and June 2026
  • Ability to begin the National Grid Graduate Program on July 13, 2026
  • Valid driver’s license required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy
  • Work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (such as sponsorship for an H-1B, TN, O, L, STEM OPT, or other employment-based work authorization)

  • Interest in working with vehicles/trucks/auto equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage the vehicle and equipment replacement program and vehicle & equipment acquisition process.
  • Interpret and evaluate vendor bids.
  • Participate in vehicle and equipment committee teams in the development and improvement of fleet standards, guidelines and specifications.
  • Research new vehicle technology; EV, PHEV, hydrogen, fuel cell, etc. to continuously improve against the company’s greenhouse gas strategy and meet future emission requirements.
  • Monitor manufacturer vendor performance, ensure company expectations & order details are being met, correct deficiencies.
  • Coordinate and perform compliance review and acceptance testing at vendor facilities and in the field.
  • Maintain knowledge of applicable environmental, state and federal regulations (DOT, OSHA, ANSI, SAE, FMVSS, etc.) and ensure compliance
