Requirements

  • Life & Health license required
  • Significant insurance experience required; at least 5 years of work experience (claims resolution, benefits administration, employee benefit customer service, etc.)
  • High school diploma
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Persistent to achieve the end result—resolution
  • Strong organizational skills, including daily prioritizing and logical thinking
  • Service-oriented; kind, compassionate, and willing to work hard on another person’s behalf
  • Good communication skills, especially verbally and over the phone
  • Clarity and accuracy are key
  • Excellent phone skills, being responsive, empathetic, and honest with the information to be shared
  • Strong working knowledge of computers (MS Word, MS Excel MS Outlook preferred; Internet, and database experience also beneficial) and able to learn new systems and programs, such as Benefit Point
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously and successfully
  • Able to work with others in teams; able to work with those who perform similar jobs as well as complimentary roles
  • Promotes cooperation and shared successes throughout the company
  • Shares ideas for improvements that are oriented around solutions and blameless problem solving
  • 5-7 years of relevant experience
  • High school or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • College degree preferred
  • Continuous education encouraged (industry coursework leading to producer’s license or professional designation)

Responsibilities

  • Develop and present pre-renewal presentations
  • Oversee Benefit Analysts and check spreadsheets to ensure accuracy
  • Develop Open Enrollment (OE) MS PowerPoints/voiceovers
  • Collaborate with financial analysts on renewal projections, reporting, scenario modeling
  • Develop and present a Strategic Planning Deck
  • Present renewal presentations, including understanding the math and explain clearly the calculations that make up a renewal
  • Oversee a renewal process from beginning to end
  • Present at OE meetings
  • Demonstrate knowledge for clients’ compliance needs including overseeing compliance audits
  • Demonstrate an understanding of clients’ business and value of employee benefits for retention and recruitment, including understanding clients’ business outlook for the next year and incorporate into strategic planning
  • Demonstrate successful project management for technology implementation
  • Demonstrate the ability to effectively oversee and manage team resources and their priorities while collaborating with other Benefit Consultants and Account Managers
  • Demonstrate understanding of specialist roles and implement timely with clients, as appropriate
  • Demonstrate ability to handle multiple priorities effectively
  • Demonstrate ability to build a trusted relationship with a client
  • Demonstrate the ability to take the appropriate steps before escalating problems quickly to leadership while recognizing the appropriate timing of escalation
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills and recognize the importance of the role, and the responsibility of being a good role model to the team
