About The Position

Boeing Defense Space & Security (BDS) is looking for an Associate Electrical Mechanic to join our Executive Fleet team in San Antonio, TX. The position involves performing connector terminations including shielded wires, coaxial cables, and fiber optic wiring. The candidate should have the ability and understanding of routing instructions and handling of harnesses. Responsibilities include sealing, wrapping, bonding, tying, and closure of wire harnesses and cables in accordance with standard processes, reading and interpreting engineering drawings, technical orders, process specifications, and retrofit requirements to perform electrical modifications and repairs. The role also requires using tooling assemblies and fixtures for depot level modification and repair of electrical wiring, performing assembly, installation, visual inspection of physical characteristics, modification of wire bundles & electrical assemblies, and operational and quality checks of aircraft. Troubleshooting organizational and depot maintenance level malfunctions in aircraft electrical and comms/nav-systems is also a key responsibility. The candidate must interpret standard work instructions, charts, tables, blueprints, wire diagrams, formulas, sketches, verbal and electronic orders, job layouts, etc. Additionally, the role involves using all equipment in accordance with established safety and operating procedures, coordinating, preparing, and moving material and tools, operating riding type electric powered elevating equipment, and maintaining necessary certifications, licenses, and permits as required for assigned work. The position requires ascending and descending vertical work ladders, working in confined spaces, and lifting loads of approximately 35 pounds. This position requires the ability to pass an assessment during the training cycle, and Special Program Access or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience with electrical/electronic theories and avionics systems, shop mathematics and practices.
  • 4+ years of experience in working with schematics, specifications, assembly drawings and standard operating procedures.
  • 4+ years of experience with component and wire installation including repairing, modifying, testing and troubleshooting new, experimental, and disturbed systems.
  • Ability to work variable shifts including weekends and overtime.

Nice To Haves

  • FAA certification in Airframe and/or Power Plant.
  • Active US Security Clearance at the Secret level or higher.
