About The Position

Overview: The Division of Hospital Pediatrics at Nationwide Children’s Hospital and the Department of Pediatrics at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio is seeking a mid-career faculty member to join our team as Associate Division Director for Research. The Division of Hospital Medicine and the Abigail Wexner Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s provide outstanding infrastructure for single- and multi-center hospital-medicine specific research. Nationwide Children’s Hospital is one of the Top 10 National Institutes of Health funded free-standing pediatric research facilities. In 2023, our hospital medicine division’s extramural grant funding exceeded $700,000 supporting a wide portfolio of multi-center projects focused on evidence translation and equity. The Division of Hospital Pediatrics currently has 56 faculty members, including pediatric, newborn, and med/peds hospitalists with diverse academic and clinical interests. An ACGME-accredited two or three-year fellowship program started in 2018 and welcomes two fellows per year. Supported by superb clinical infrastructure, the division had over 7,800 discharges and 23,000 patient days in 2023. Newborn hospitalists cover the nursery at Ohio State Medical Center involving over 5,000 deliveries per year. Ideal candidates for this academic position will be hospital medicine fellowship or research fellowship-trained hospitalists with a strong track record in clinical and/or translational research, mentorship, and teaching. Responsibilities will include the conduct of individual and collaborative original scientific research, faculty and fellow research mentorship, and provision of clinical care. Job Description Summary: Provides medical care and treatment to patients. Job Description: Essential Functions: Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions. Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support. Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals. Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required. Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required.
  • Medical License in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician, required.
  • Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
  • Prior clinical practice experience may be required based on the needs of the division.
