Leidos is seeking Associate Distribution Engineers & Designers who are passionate about electric utility design engineering. The role involves ensuring exceptional quality in projects and maintaining Leidos' reputation. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Industrial preferred); additional relevant experience/certifications may be considered in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with the NESC
  • Ability to utilize a personal vehicle, as some customer-related travel could be anticipated (Job-related travel will be reimbursed at IRS-approved rates)
  • Willingness to perform both field and office work
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments on occasion
  • The role may require customer-site visits to collect field data that will assist in developing work packages
  • Candidates should possess valid U.S. driver's license, as some local or regional travel is expected

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of design and construction work packages for electrical overhead and underground distribution systems for electric utility customers
  • Assist in reviewing client-provided work and help interpret scope requirements under guidance from senior team members
  • Perform basic engineering calculations such as pole loading, guying, conductor sag and tension, and voltage drop with oversight
  • Provide support during construction activities, including assisting with post-construction reviews to help ensure compliance with engineering and construction standards
  • Assist with analysis of outages and contribute to mitigation efforts using established engineering practices
  • Gain experience coordinating with other utilities and field engineering requirements, supporting design efforts for cable/conduit projects, and assisting with permitting, easements, and right-of-way (ROW) documentation
