About The Position

The Associate Distribution Engineer is an entry-level engineering role responsible for supporting distribution, warehouse, and manufacturing operations through process improvement, capacity planning, and systems support initiatives. This position will work closely with Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to improve efficiency, optimize material movement, and support ERP and operational change initiatives. This role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field and a foundational understanding of engineering principles, process improvement methodologies, and data analysis. Under the guidance of more senior engineers, the Associate Distribution Engineer is expected to manage assigned projects, analyze operational processes, and contribute to continuous improvement efforts within a regulated medical device environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, Biomedical, or related field)
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate in a cross-functional work environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Ability to document processes and write clear technical and operational documentation
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal direct supervision
  • Ability to regularly walk, sit, or stand as needed
  • Ability to occasionally bend and push/pull as needed
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

Nice To Haves

  • Internship, co-op, or project experience in distribution, manufacturing, supply chain, or operations
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement methodologies
  • Experience or coursework involving warehouse operations, logistics, or material flow
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, JD Edwards, or similar)
  • Experience working in a regulated industry (medical device, pharmaceutical, aerospace, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support process improvement and efficiency initiatives within distribution, warehouse, and manufacturing operations
  • Assist with distribution and warehouse layout redesigns, capacity analysis, and process flow optimization
  • Analyze and improve material movement, storage strategies, and picking/packing workflows
  • Support operational changes and ChRP (Change Request Process) activities required by the Operations team
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support ERP-related activities, including data analysis, system updates, testing, and user support
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting to support operational decision-making
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies
  • Support Manufacturing and Distribution teams with troubleshooting and implementation of process changes
  • Work under the guidance of senior engineers while progressively managing assigned tasks and projects independently
  • Regular and predictable work performance
