About The Position

The Associate Director, under the guidance of the Director of Worship and in close collaboration with other Associate Directors of Worship, serves as the chief assistant in planning, implementing, and assessing liturgical and pastoral formation for the Office of Worship. This role is pivotal in recognizing and supporting formators working in parish leadership positions, equipping them with the necessary skills and guidelines to diversify formation opportunities for Catholics within the Diocese of Dallas. The Associate Director will also assist in executing episcopal and conference liturgical celebrations as required, ensuring that all activities align with the Church's liturgical laws and diocesan norms. In this position, the Associate Director is responsible for preparing, providing, and evaluating liturgical ministry formation sessions for extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, Communion ministers to the sick and homebound, readers of Scripture, and other liturgical ministries. This includes developing training programs that enable parish liturgical leaders to implement effective liturgical ministry formation programs. The Associate Director will serve as a resource for parishes in selecting and purchasing guidebooks and ritual texts for liturgical ministers, while also encouraging parish liturgical ministers to cultivate prayerfulness, reverence, and common sense in their roles. Additionally, the Associate Director will collaborate with other Associate Directors of Worship to implement formation for volunteer catechists, parish catechetical leaders, and parish liturgical leaders on the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults. The role also involves providing opportunities for spiritual enrichment for volunteer liturgical ministers and lay ecclesial ministers, as well as assisting in the implementation of major diocesan and conference liturgies. The Associate Director must be adaptable and willing to take on other duties as needed by the Office of Worship.
