About The Position

The Associate Director of US Marketing Gene Therapy at Ultragenyx is responsible for leading promotional programs that will direct the pre-launch and launch efforts for treatments targeting rare and ultra-rare diseases. This role involves developing best-in-class marketing strategies and resources, ensuring effective communication of insights, and establishing data-driven tracking mechanisms to measure the impact of marketing initiatives. The position emphasizes collaboration across various teams to optimize patient access and enhance the effectiveness of marketing campaigns.

Requirements

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent life-sciences qualification required; MBA preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of marketing and sales experience, with at least 5 years in marketing within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • At least 2 years of experience in rare/ultra-rare disease; experience with Metabolic Genetics and Gene Therapy is highly desirable.
  • Prior product launch experience preferred.
  • Proven ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with a strong patient focus and understanding of U.S. patient access challenges.
  • Strong command of analytical and market research techniques with the ability to interpret market insights for strategic guidance.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively to develop innovative brand strategies and tactics.
  • Experience managing external partners, including Advertising and Communications agencies.
  • Strong leadership skills to influence stakeholders and ensure flawless execution of initiatives.
  • Proven ability to communicate complex scientific and clinical concepts to HCP and patient audiences.
  • Excellent public presentation, written communication, and listening skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead promotional programs and develop resources for HCPs and patients in the preparation and execution of successful product launches.
  • Work closely with the Marketing Lead and National Sales Director to support a successful launch platform.
  • Develop and support US marketing initiatives, monitor their progress, and adjust strategies to optimize patient access and key customer uptake.
  • Collaborate with the Digital Lead to ensure non-personal promotion activities align with brand strategy.
  • Develop short- and long-term strategic plans for pre-launch and launch products in partnership with the Marketing Director.
  • Manage HCP and patient congress/conferences, including messaging, booth design, and coordinating onsite materials and field training.
  • Develop and lead a promotional speaker bureau, including agency oversight and content creation to support brand strategy.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with cross-functional teams to identify best practices and trends for real-time campaign modifications.
  • Serve as the primary contact with the MRC team and multiple agencies/vendors to ensure timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Manage all assigned promotional activities within corporate and industry guidelines for ethics and compliance.
