About The Position

The Associate Director will provide strong leadership and effective direction in the day-to-day operations of the Treasurer's Office (Bursar's Office) by developing strategies that facilitate operations and improve efficiency, effectiveness, and customer service; by ensuring all Treasurer's Office financial transactions are recorded, reconciled, and properly reflected in the financial statements in a timely manner; by ensuring compliance with federal, state and university statutes, regulations, policies and procedures; and by ensuring all documentation required by the auditors and reporting agencies is properly maintained. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • At least two years of experience in higher education or financial setting
  • At least two years of supervisory experience
  • At least two years of experience with complex student or financial systems
  • At least two years of customer service experience
  • Knowledge of and the ability to interpret and explain state and federal laws, rules and regulations, and institutional policies and procedures pertaining to Higher Education Bursar functions
  • Knowledge of regulations surrounding the awarding, disbursing and reconciliation of federal and state student financial aid
  • Knowledge of organizational management principles and techniques
  • Knowledge of financial principles, especially related to student accounts
  • Ability to analyze complex administrative problems and develop effective courses of action
  • Ability to plan and direct the work of others
  • Ability to work with others to assure compliance and responsiveness
  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written information

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in accounting, finance or a business-related field from an accredited institution of higher education
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • More than four years of experience with complex student or financial systems
  • Experience with Workday Student
  • More than four years of higher education experience
  • Experience with billing and collections for student tuition and fees
  • Experience with the accounting associated with the billing and collections of student tuition and fees
  • Experience with reporting related to student tuition and fee data
  • Experience with the reconciliation of federal and state student financial aid
