About The Position

Vera Therapeutics (Nasdaq: VERA), is a late clinical-stage biotechnology company focused on developing treatments for serious immunological diseases. Vera’s mission is to advance treatments that target the source of immunologic diseases in order to change the standard of care for patients. Vera’s lead product candidate is atacicept, a fusion protein self-administered at home as a subcutaneous once weekly injection that blocks both B-cell Activating Factor (BAFF) and A Proliferation Inducing Ligand (APRIL), which stimulate B cells to produce autoantibodies contributing to certain autoimmune diseases, including IgA nephropathy. Vera is also evaluating the role of atacicept in other immunologic disorders. Position Summary: The Associate Director, Total Rewards will report to the VP, Total Rewards & Operations and will be responsible for designing and administering benefit programs including health and welfare, retirement, leave and wellness. This position also provides compensation support including survey submissions, annual compensation planning, promotions and approval of job offers. This role ensures that programs are market competitive, cost effective and support employee attraction and retention.

Requirements

  • BS or higher in Business, HR or related.
  • 8+ years of Benefits experience, prior compensation experience preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of health and welfare plans, retirement, and compliance.
  • Strong analytical and financial modeling skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, collaborate and influence cross-functionally.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
  • Ability to adapt in a fast-paced scaling environment.
  • Experience using various HR Technology platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work at pace, under tight deadlines, organize and prioritize workload.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all facets of employee benefit programs, including strategic planning, design, implementation, regulatory compliance, communication, and administration.
  • Deliver innovative and sustainable benefit solutions that enable our talent strategy and align with business objectives.
  • Lead annual renewal and open enrollment processes, including obtaining and analyzing benchmark and utilization data, preparing recommendations for senior leadership and delivery of change management, communication, and education programs to ensure successful adoption.
  • Maintain knowledge of benefits related regulations, program trends, and best practices among peer companies in the Biotechnology industry to ensure that Vera offerings are differentiated and align with our employee experience strategy.
  • Educate, inform and continuously increase employees’ understanding of benefit offerings with clear communications and educational programs.
  • Design and implement strategic wellness programs to improve employee health, engagement.
  • Ensure compliance with ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS regulations, and other federal and state requirements.
  • Lead benefits audits and manage plan filings, including Form 5500s, nondiscrimination testing, and plan documents.
  • Manage relationships with benefits providers, brokers, consultants, and third-party administrators.
  • Manage Leave of Absence and Worker's Compensation process and cases.
  • Completes annual compensation survey submissions.
  • Provides guidance to HRBPs, Talent Acquisition and business leaders on job offers, pay decisions and job evaluation.
  • Supports annual compensation planning and promotion process including data analysis, partnership with HRBPs and creation of total rewards statements.
  • Supports VP, Total Rewards & Operations in preparation of Compensation Committee meeting materials.
  • Oversee the development and administration of employee recognition programs, ensuring alignment with organizational values and goals.
