The Associate Director of Supply Chain will oversee daily supply chain operations including procurement, planning, inventory, supplier relationships, and the supply chain team. This individual is responsible for leading collaboration of the design, development, and implementation of procurement and manufacturing planning solutions. Collaborates with the Director of Warehouse, Distribution and Logistics to develop and implement programs to optimize logistics solutions. Advises the supply chain team in executing best practices. Works closely with finance, manufacturing, technology development, Quality, and IT to drive corporate goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 10+ years related experience.
  • 10+ years in one or more of the following functions: purchasing, manufacturing planning, inventory control, and the management of strategic commodities and suppliers within a biotech and turnkey environment.
  • 6+ years of experience building and leading operational teams with metrics and performance-based management
  • Effective verbal and written communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, detail oriented.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, word processing, Microsoft Excel, and Outlook required.

Responsibilities

  • Production Support – Procurement and Manufacturing Planning
  • Manage Supply Chain Specialists, Supply Chain Buyers, and or Supply Chain Planners in one or multiple sites world-wide.
  • Direct, manage, and support the Supply Chain team on strategic and tactical operations.
  • Sets the quarterly goals for Supply Chain Planning and/or Procurement
  • Plans, manages, and coordinates all activities related to the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies needed to meet the changing levels of product demand.
  • Collaborates with the Technology Development teams to determine the materials required for new product development & launches.
  • Plans the ramp-up materials for new products and the ramp-down of new materials for EOL products.
  • Collaborates with Reagent Manufacturing, Technology Development, Sustain & Support and Quality on projects that drive productivity, reduce costs, and provide Guardant with the manufacturing scale it requires.
  • Manages the S&OP process and the collection of demand forecast for existing and new products.
  • Collaborates with Guardant FP&A on the setting of E&O monthly reserves
  • Provides the monthly E&O data, explanations of root causes, and potential future mitigations.
  • Manages weekly/monthly/quarterly metrics.
  • Manages shortage gap analysis to understand and mitigate shortage gaps 4-5 months in advance.
  • Assists in resolving materials receiving and accounts payable issues.
  • Creates and maintains purchased part modifiers (lead time, cost, MOQ, supplier, lot sizing, safety stock etc.).
  • Coordinates MRB supplier issues and corrective actions.
  • Manage MRB aging targets per Guardant Health’s goals.
  • Coordinates engineering change-order implementation with suppliers
  • Reviews PPV monthly with finance and adjusts standard costs as needed.
  • Actively manages contract manufacturers, creates and shares rolling forecasts, manages the right supply/safety stock levels to ensure quick turnaround on changes.
  • Assists the Logistics manager with resolutions for custom issues for international shipments and receipts.
  • Core team member representing Supply Chain on new product development teams.
  • Develops and implements improved processes and procedures where needed.
  • Represents Supply Chain on Oracle systems roadmap steering committee.
  • Guides the Supply Chain team on IT systems evaluations and implementations in collaboration with the Guardant IT business applications team.
  • Supplier Management
  • Manages production suppliers and indirect (non-production) suppliers.
  • Develops and implements new system to facilitate the onboarding and maintenance of >3,000 active suppliers.
  • Leads supplier audits in assessing materials/capacity/production capabilities and overall business issues.
  • Manages key suppliers to strengthen relationships while ensuring continuity of supply and reducing business risks.
  • Understands and communicates lead times, capacities, technology, and pricing trends to align Guardant Health to best-possible supply base.
  • Participates in developing supplier scorecards.
  • Conducts quarterly business reviews with all critical vendors.
  • Reviews vendor technology roadmap, financial risk assessment.
  • Develops contingency plans in addressing sole source issues.
  • Leads corporate initiatives resulting in product cost savings strategies.
  • Works with management to address all aspects of commodity management, including procurement support, commodity business plans and strategies, market trends assessment, pricing, and product availability.
  • Supports proper utilization of ERP/MRP system.
  • Monitors and corrects inventory levels at outside warehouses (3PL).
