About The Position

The Director, Credentialing Assessments advances ASHA's mission and public health by ensuring the relevance and effectiveness of credentialing assessments. This role leads efforts to develop and evaluate credentialing assessments that support credentialing best practices, certification accreditation standards, the needs of communication sciences and disorders professionals, and the public. This position works directly with vendors who perform exam development and administration functions to ensure optimal performance.

Requirements

  • Master's or doctorate degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • 5 or more years of practical experience in the profession with specific expertise in school based speech-language pathology services
  • Current Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) in Speech-Language Pathology

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional consultation in state-of-the-art practice and policy to ASHA members, National Office staff, government agencies, media, related professional organizations, and consumers.
  • Track national trends and critical issues in SLP professional practice and in schools to develop resources and make recommendations for developing Association policy, priorities, and actions to meet the professional practice needs of members.
  • Recommend the formation of and serve as ex officio of board, council, ad hoc and joint committees and working groups, and coordinate task force activities that influence and shape the education and practice resources for speech-language pathologists.
  • Solicit and integrate the input of other groups and individuals into the activities of the School Services unit.
  • Serve as liaison with related professional organizations, state and federal agencies, and other national professional and advocacy organizations to ensure that they are aware of current ASHA policy and practice in speech-language pathology and to collaborate with such professional organizations on issues of mutual concern.
  • Recommend, plan, develop, conduct, and evaluate the content of ASHA-sponsored professional development conferences, programs, and related products pertinent to providing speech-language pathology services.
  • Assist in developing, preparing, directing, and managing of grants and contracts for federal/private funding.
