About The Position

The Associate Director, Quantitative Systems Pharmacology Lead will play a pivotal role in the Clinical Pharmacology Modelling and Simulation (CPMS) department at GSK. This position focuses on developing and applying Quantitative Systems Pharmacology (QSP) models to enhance clinical study designs and interpret study results, particularly in oncology. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to influence clinical study decisions and deepen the understanding of disease mechanisms.

Requirements

  • PhD in Applied Mathematics, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Systems Biology, or related disciplines with experience in mathematical and statistical methods.
  • 2+ years of experience in the Pharma Life Science Biomedical industry developing and applying QSP approaches.
  • Experience with mathematical modeling and simulation, including numerical methods and ODEs.
  • Computational experience with modeling and simulation packages or programming languages (e.g., MATLAB, R, Julia).
  • Experience with quantitative clinical pharmacology tools (e.g., NONMEM, R, WINNONLIN).
  • Experience developing mechanistically-sound PK-PD models.
  • Ability to translate modeling outcomes into understandable information for project teams.

Responsibilities

  • Build and utilize QSP models of biological, physiological, and pathophysiological processes to evaluate diseases and treatment modalities.
  • Collaborate closely with biologists, clinicians, and pharmacometricians to inform research and development programs.
  • Serve as the QSP modeling & simulation point-of-contact on project teams to solve challenges in drug research and development.
  • Develop and utilize mathematical tools to gain insights into drug-target-biomarker-disease-patient interactions.
  • Analyze and interpret complex data sets in the context of disease mechanisms and pathways.
  • Explore new QSP opportunities and build synergies with computational groups.
  • Provide scientific and strategic expertise in oncology to support clinical development programs.
  • Perform scientific rigor and biological suitability assessments of QSP models.
