About The Position

We’re looking for an Associate Director, Quantitative Equities to join our Equities team at Principal Asset Management. In this role, you’ll apply quantitative methods to research, develop, and implement investment strategies, helping to inform key decision-making across our equity portfolios! Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Statistics, Data Science, Business, Finance, Financial Engineering, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
  • 5+ years of related experience in equity investment industry and quantitative finance (models), options preferred
  • Experience with programming such as Python, R, and/or SQL

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in Data Engineering, including database design and ETL principles
  • Ability to make effective, well-informed decisions and recommendations in a highly time-sensitive environment, often with incomplete and/or contradictory information
  • Ability to efficiently and effectively research and summarize information, and communicate persuasive recommendations
  • High level of self-initiative, be able to work independently within a collegial structure, and be comfortable taking risks
  • Enjoy asking questions, expressing opinions, and actively engaging in internal discussions regarding investment strategy and recommendations
  • Ability to demonstrate creativity and offer unique solutions to complex problems
  • Creativity in defining challenging exploratory projects and developing solutions

Responsibilities

  • Leverage Quantitative Methods to Inform Investment Decisions around income enhancement
  • Build tools to evaluate options market opportunities
  • Evaluate other income enhancing tools and asset classes
  • Advise portfolio managers across US and Global Strategies
  • Lead data sourcing and management efforts, including acquisition from external vendors, pipeline development, database design, and quality assurance to ensure timely and accurate information delivery
  • Publish and monitor production models that influence investment decisions
  • Deliver interfaces and solutions to end users in intuitive and useful ways
  • Monitor and control performance of models and investment products
  • Leadership of projects and people including supporting Portfolio Managers and Analyst teams
