Purpose: As a member of the project and program management team, the Associate Director of Project & Program Management will have the responsibility to coordinate and lead strategic projects or programs within the Business Growth, Innovation and Advocacy (BGIA) portfolio. Typical projects include the oversight of system, automation, technology projects or initiatives supporting the execution of clinical trials. The Associate Director of Project & Program Management will be responsible for strengthening project management capabilities and driving best practices to deliver improved realization of projected benefits. This includes supporting the NDBI Portfolio and Projects team in defining, implementing, maintaining, and continuously improving project standards, processes, metrics, and best practices to deliver projects according to plan and ensuring that investments are run in an efficient and standardized way.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Business, Physical Sciences or a related field is required.
  • A minimum of 10 years relevant business and project management experience within pharmaceutical / healthcare / life science sector is required.
  • Familiarity with standard project management tools and templates and leading cross-functional teams is required
  • Proficient in English language.
  • Strong influencing and negotiating skills and excellent oral, written, and presentation skills are required.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with excellent analytical (Excel) and presentation (PowerPoint) skills; working understanding of MS Project and common portfolio management systems.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment and able to prioritize and respond to changing needs of the business.
  • Up to 20% travel (Domestic/International) may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • An advanced degree (e.g. Master’s) is preferred.
  • Expertise in pharmaceutical clinical operations, with experience gained through working with diverse business processes and system infrastructures is preferred.
  • Experience in shaping and delivering key programs that optimized performance and delivered project support in cross functional environments is preferred.
  • FPX training and certification is preferred.
  • Project management certification is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead strategic programs and project teams to enable execution with a focus on robust project management practices and delivery of value for partners.
  • Manage the administration for project submissions and approvals through the agreed prioritization and approval process.
  • Lead, participate or attend (as appropriate) project / portfolio review meetings and provide reporting to project sponsors
  • Ensure that a clear and consistent approach is in place to manage risk in alignment with Finance & Business partners.
  • Ensure the monitoring of progress against projects is timely and accurate and provide Sponsors and Stakeholders visibility and sufficient information to make decisions.
  • Ensure project risks, issues and dependencies are being proactively managed to minimize disruption to successful delivery with escalation to project sponsors where appropriate
  • Partner closely with Investment Owners and Project Leads to ensure accurate & robust budget monitoring against project plans.
  • Identify innovative ways to resolve problems through effective leadership, interpersonal, communication and management skills.
  • Support the Global Development project managers (PMs) with adoption and sustainability of the core Project Management processes and tools.
