About The Position

Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Associate Director, Post Award Services, Division of Research & Innovation at its Detroit campus location. Position Purpose: To manage the operations of a team within the post-award services division of Sponsored Program Administration. This position supervises a staff of individuals responsible for all aspects of award administration and sponsored project reporting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Degree in Business Administration with a major in accounting or related field.
  • Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
  • Planning/Organizational Skills - prioritizes and plans work activities for a team; manages project team activities; adapts to changing conditions and priorities.
  • Analytical Skills - ability to analyze financial or other quantitative data; detect and interpret errors or discrepancies; solve complex problems.
  • Management Skills - manages workflow and adjusts when necessary; assesses priorities and communicates with staff; provides assistance when necessary.
  • Communication skills - strong written and verbal communication skills; strong customer service skills.
  • Team Building - develops subordinates' skills and encourages growth; encourages sense of positive affiliation among staff members.
  • Computer skills - proficient in Microsoft Office applications, Banner system, and Cognos reporting tools.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns, analyzes, and reviews work completed by staff, including financial reports, award establishment, modification and close-out activities, etc.
  • Oversee award administration from award setup through closeout; ensures financial and other agency reporting requirements are met.
  • Monitors status of outstanding reports to ensure compliance with agency due dates.
  • Acts as liaison between University personnel and representatives from sponsoring agencies regarding interpretation of guidelines, compliance issues, etc.
  • Performs personnel management functions including interviews, hiring and promotion recommendations, training, performance appraisals, etc.
  • Assesses workload issues and distribution of assignments via continual monitoring of workload and organizational issues.
  • Represents Sponsored Program Administration by attendance and presentation at various University forums.
  • Other duties as assigned.
