We have a rare opening for an Operations Manager covering Connecticut Stators & Components (CTSC) and Repair & Supplier Logistics (RSL), at our East Hartford, CT campus. CTSC is a repair business and part of East Hartford Repair Operations (EHRO) which specializes in static components and serves Pratt & Whitney, and a variety of global customers. RSL provides unique support for all parts that PW Aftermarket Operations does not have capability or capacity to support, repair, or overhaul. The facility consists of salaried and multi-shift union employees. You will have salaried direct reports and will have oversight of the site’s operation. This role reports directly to the Deputy General Manager and is responsible for driving both the strategy and the tactical execution of all deliverables for the business unit.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree and 10+ years of experience in Military, Manufacturing, Business Operations Management, Engineering, Aerospace or Aftermarket industry; OR Bachelor’s degree and 12+ years of relevant industry experience; OR Associate’s degree and 14+ years of relevant industry experience; OR High School diploma or Military / Technical Training and 16+ years of relevant industry experience
  • 5+ years of personnel management experience, ideally within a bargaining unit / union workforce environment.

  • Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)
  • Proven ability to lead mentoring, coaching, developing talent and motivate teams to achieve business goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in P&L management, with a track record of delivering financial performance.
  • Aftermarket Aerospace and Overhaul and Repair (MRO) industry experience.
  • Working knowledge of Pratt & Whitney shop practices, quality standards, processes and procedures
  • Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, and continuous improvement tools (CORE/ACE/SixSigma, QCPC and RCCA).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
  • Organizational and project management skills, PMP certification preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, SAP, MRP materials management, and MS Office Suite.
  • Ability to work and effectively communicate with all levels of management, shop personnel and customers

Responsibilities

  • Foster a safety-first work culture that exceeds safety performance goals and strives towards zero injuries.
  • Work to reduce OSHA recordable rates by supporting all EH&S efforts and timely closure of EH&S related actions.
  • Demonstrate ethical leadership and compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable RTX and Pratt & Whitney policies and procedures including individual employee awareness of responsibility and accountability.
  • You will be responsible for all aspects of the operation affecting EH&S, quality, cost, delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage and empower a team of salaried supervisors and hourly bargaining unit employees.
  • Manage employee retention, staffing and talent recruitment and development.
  • Develop and maintain a relationship with the bargaining unit.
  • Drive productivity and on-time delivery (OTD) improvements.
  • Achieve cost of poor quality (COPQ) goals.
  • Support audits and timely closure of resulting actions
  • Achieve financial goals including sales, inventory and EBIT targets.
  • Support Continuous Improvement - Customer Oriented Results & Excellence (CORE) efforts.
  • Support all employee survey efforts and encourage direct reports to be a part of action planning.
  • Work with all levels of management, employees and customers.
