About the position

Under the direction of the Director of Workforce Development, the Associate Director will lead an innovative team of service providers and education professionals that will work collectively to operate innovative workforce development and education programming for youth and adults in the South Los Angeles area that face the greatest barriers to finding employment, training and education. The Associate Director will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of workforce development and education programs, ensuring client-focused service implementation, data entry, and grant performance. To make this happen, the Associate Director will operate from a high level of accountability while providing support to their assigned program managers, coordinators, career coaches and other service delivery personnel. The following is a list of current programs, projects, or initiatives that the Associate Director will oversee to provide services for vulnerable populations that include Justice-involved, disabled, homeless, current/former foster, unemployed and low-income individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the program managers to ensure all services are client-focused and align with CRCD’s vision and mission.
  • Provide supervision, coaching, and guidance for the program managers.
  • Ensure adherence to all department policies and procedures by the community, personnel, and youth participants.
  • Attend private and public funder required meetings.
  • Monitor relationships with community-based organizations and government agencies to promote collaboration and resource mapping.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly data inquiries to assess, evaluate and improve program and staff performance.
  • Monitor the implementation of assigned programs and services.
  • Conduct semi-annual partner monitoring and corrective action plans.
  • Work with the Learning & Evaluation team to schedule and host quarterly and annual client focus groups.
  • Monitor internal and external systems to improve program operations and collaboration.
  • Ensure all assigned programs meet the goals and performance measures outlined in grant applications.
  • Work with the Director and Sr. Director to monitor and manage grant expenditures.
  • Provide program/project updates, successes, challenges, and progress towards CRCD’s 5-Year Strategic Plan.
  • Assist with organizing and facilitating annual work plan development and department planning retreats.
  • Participate in Service Planning Area 6 (SPA-6) service delivery priorities.
  • Assist the Fund Development and Grants Administration team with program information and support.
  • Support grant managers and executive team with grant application review.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor organization and department policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight of day-to-day operations in partnership with program managers.
  • Provide support to program managers and service staff for client engagement.
  • Coordinate annual personnel performance evaluations and progressive disciplinary procedures.

Requirements

  • 5 years of workforce development programming or management experience.
  • BA Degree required, Masters preferred.
  • 3 years of professional workforce development experience can substitute for education.
  • Experience managing and supporting programs that serve vulnerable populations.
  • Additional system experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Reliable, flexible team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple workforce development/academic projects simultaneously.
  • Must provide proof and references of past work experience.
  • Experience working in communities with higher-than-normal gang activity, substance use, and homeless youth and adults.
  • Experience participating in or writing funder performance reports.
  • Reliable transportation: Valid driver's license and car insurance.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point).
  • Experience with facilitating small and large group meetings.
  • A minimum of 5 years supervision and management experience in non-profit workforce development.
  • Experience with participating and adhering to annual fiscal and performance audits.
