Amherst College invites applications for the position of Associate Director, Queer Resource Center (QRC) to advance the center’s mission to further conversations around gender and sexuality across campus by providing opportunities for leadership development, intentional programming, and space for community building that centers the support and empowerment of Amherst’s LGBTQ+ community, which is welcoming to all. Through programmatic initiatives, resources, and services, the QRC aims to foster personal, social, and academic success for these student populations at Amherst College. It provides space for students to explore gender and sexual identities with an intersectional lens. The Queer Resource Center is part of the Student Engagement and Equity unit within the Division of Student Affairs. Reporting to the Senior Director of Identity and Cultural Engagement, the Associate Director will be a content expert on the Center's salient identities, supervise student staff, manage day-to-day operations, advance student-led programming, and also oversee critical center communications platforms. The Associate Director will work in collaboration with the Senior Director to develop, implement, and assess signature programs and initiatives. The Associate Director of QRC will work collaboratively on shared projects and initiatives with the Office of Identity and Cultural Resources— composed of Amherst’s six identity-based resource centers, including: the Center for International Student Engagement, Center for Religious and Spiritual Life, Multicultural Resource Center, Class and Access Resource Center, and the Women’s & Gender Center. The Associate Director will collaborate with various campus partners and stakeholders to fulfill the Center’s mission through educational, social, and cultural programming that centers on and affirms the diverse communities the Center serves. The Associate Director takes appropriate actions to support a diverse workforce and participates in the College’s efforts to create a respectful, inclusive, and welcoming work environment. This is an in-person position with hybrid work offered during the academic breaks. Occasional nights and weekends are required. Attend and support signature Student Affairs and campus-wide programs, including Orientation, Mammoth Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Campus Parties, Homecoming, Spring Concert, Commencement, and Reunion.
