About The Position

The Wall Street Journal Leadership Institute is designed to help business leaders master a world of accelerating change. To succeed, they need not only good information—which the Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones have traditionally provided them—but also a means for continuously honing their abilities to manage their people through a daunting array of challenges—whether from disruptive new technologies, an evolving geopolitical landscape, a changing energy paradigm, rising stakeholder demands, or shifting workplace norms. The Leadership Institute consists of executive peer communities, a variety of content and experiences for members, and unique access to data only available within Dow Jones. We are seeking a strategic and results-driven Head of Membership to lead the overall management, growth, and retention of our executive membership program. This senior role is critical to the success of the Institute, overseeing a team of Council Managers and the Membership Renewal team, and driving all aspects of the membership lifecycle to ensure continuous growth and member satisfaction.

  • Extensive experience managing and developing high-performing teams, specifically in sales or customer-facing roles.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage with C-suite executives and senior leaders.
  • Expertise in using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and interpreting data to drive business decisions.
  • A deep understanding of the executive education or peer community landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive, data-driven strategy for membership acquisition, retention, and growth, aligned with the Institute's financial and business goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Council Managers to ensure the delivery of a world-class member experience and a high level of engagement within each executive council.
  • Oversee the Membership Renewal team, establishing best practices and processes to achieve high retention rates and manage at-risk members.
  • Collaborate with sales, marketing, product, and content teams to align membership strategy with broader organizational initiatives.
  • Drive new membership sales and revenue growth through strategic planning, market analysis, and the development of compelling value propositions.
  • Leverage a strong sales background to identify new opportunities for growth, including partnerships and market expansion.
  • Monitor and analyze membership data to forecast trends, measure performance, and inform strategic decisions.
  • Drive the implementation and adoption of a CRM tool to support across all councils, centering membership data and insights.
  • Ensure a consistently high-quality experience for all members, from onboarding to daily engagement and renewals.
  • Work with Council Managers to curate and deliver relevant, high-impact programming and content that meets the evolving needs of executive members.
  • Act as a key representative of the Leadership Institute, building relationships with high-level members and stakeholders.
