About The Position

We're seeking an experienced grants manager who is ready to take on a more strategic role on an advancement team. While still owning all the responsibilities of the grants program, including relationships with funders, this person will play a pivotal and strategic role setting direction of the team and, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the organization. As a member of the External Relations Department, the Associate Director of Grants is responsible for the full range of activities to help meet the organization's funding goals from non-government organizations that require grant applications, including foundations, faith communities, and corporations. Also, a leader of the External Relations team, the Associate Director of Grants supervises the Volunteer Coordinator and Resource Advocate. This person is also a member of the cross-functional Senior Leadership Team, which meets monthly to discuss the overall operations, performance and direction of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Grant Program Management Serve as primary relationship-holder with grant funders, leading stewardship activities and site visits.
  • Coordinate, write, and submit funding applications to foundations, faith communities, corporations, and other non-government organizations, ensuring all applications and reports are properly submitted.
  • Manage all grant submission and payment calendars and work with the Vice President of External Relations to set annual grant revenue budget.
  • Track grants activities and relationship management information in Raiser's Edge database and maintain other files as needed.
  • Work with program staff and organization leadership to understand funding needs and develop applications that best reflect the work and needs of the organization.
  • Develop strategic approaches to new grant opportunities.
  • Regularly prospect for new funding sources.
  • Supervise the Volunteer Coordinator and Resource Advocate, ensuring clear accountabilities, performance reviews, and regular check-ins – at least monthly.
  • Take responsibility for cascading accountabilities for their work.
  • Participate in the Supervisory Team at Agate.
  • Be a leader on the External Relations team, helping create annual plans and goals driving growth for Agate through external support.
  • Attend team meetings and serve as a model of behavior and work ethic to other team members.
  • Serve on the Senior Leadership Team of the organization, attending monthly meetings to review department-level results and discuss organization issues and priorities.
