For more information, please visit our website at www.opendoormedical.org. Open Door is currently seeking an Associate Director of Grants and Donor Relations in our Tarrytown center. The Associate Director of Grants and Donor Relations has overall responsibility to support a portfolio of health and social services programs. This role will be responsible for identifying grant opportunities for programs, working closely with program staff to develop, write, and submit proposals and reports, ensuring that reporting requirements for funded grants (Foundation, Corporate and Government) are prepared and met. This role will also be responsible for ensuring that post-award administration is completed in a proper and timely fashion and otherwise maintaining strong working relationships/communications with funders. This position includes but is not limited to project design/set-up, budget projections, general donor relations, gift acknowledgment and assisting with PR requirements, effort management and reporting, project planning and project closeout

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2+ years of experience writing and editing grant proposals in the non-profit, medical or academia industries
  • Exceptional writing, organizational, analytical, critical-thinking, and prioritization skills
  • Excellent, proactive communication skills
  • Extremely organized; project management skills including the ability to coordinate overlapping deadlines and projects; strong people skills; attention to detail
  • Have knowledge of procedures for public and private grant research, submissions, and post-award funder experience
  • Writing samples required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database management, preferably Donor Perfect
  • Must have valid New York State driver license and daily access to a vehicle
  • Ability to travel up to 25% to local sites as needed

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working within community/health/social service organizations
  • Proven track record of securing grants is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Research, prepare, write, and submit grant proposals and reports for various funding bodies including private donors, foundations, corporations, and government agencies in support of agency’s broad range of health and social services. Experience in writing persuasive, clear concise and visually attractive proposals/reports.
  • Collaborate with program staff on project design, budgets and writing grant proposals.
  • Communicate accomplishments of existing programs to funders through reports.
  • Keep informed on foundation initiatives and development practices beyond proposal preparation; have strong knowledge of procedures for private grant proposals submissions, funder selection criteria and post-award funder experience.
  • Track all prospects, donors, proposals, reports, deadlines, and relationships.
  • Manage in-kind donation program.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with grantors, and internal program staff and executive staff at all levels.
  • Proven track record of securing grants is desirable.
  • Extremely strong organizational and editing skills; ability to process and execute complex instructions; attention to detail imperative.
  • Ability to manage a diverse portfolio that includes federal grants contracts and foundation grants.
  • As necessary, compose agency letters of thanks and other communication to financial donors for CEO signature or appropriate program EVP/VP, provide support for site visits and other relevant written needs around programming.
