The Cornell Ann S. Bowers College of Computing and Information Science (Cornell Bowers CIS) is a vibrant community dedicated to tackling global challenges through innovative computing and information technologies. The college comprises three academic departments: Computer Science, Information Science, and Statistics and Data Science. With a commitment to research excellence and cross-disciplinary collaboration, Cornell Bowers CIS is expanding its faculty by 50% to meet the increasing student interest in its programs. The Department of Information Science focuses on the interactions between people and technology, exploring how technology influences individual lives and social groups, and how user engagement can drive technological advancements. Currently, the department serves around 700 undergraduate students and approximately 200 graduate students across its professional master's and PhD programs. In this role, the Associate Director of Graduate Programs will work under the guidance of the Director of Administration and in partnership with the Director of Graduate Studies to oversee the growing graduate program. This includes advising and counseling graduate students across two campuses: the main campus in Ithaca and the Cornell Tech campus in New York City. The position emphasizes fostering a culture of belonging and psychological well-being within the community, encouraging open communication, collaboration, and respect among all members. The Associate Director will play a crucial role in recruitment, advising, and developing strategies to attract high-quality candidates, while also providing academic support to current students. This position is primarily on-campus, with a flexible hybrid work arrangement available during breaks and summer months.
