About The Position

The Associate Director of Financial Systems Development is an integral part of Latham’s Technology & Information Services team. This role will be responsible for leading the teams responsible for the firm’s financial systems, related development efforts, and financial system processes, ensuring they align with the strategic goals of the organization, while fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, focusing on modern development practices and Elite 3E, and empowering team members to reach their full potential through mentorship, clear communication, and strategic guidance. This role will be located in our Global Services Office in downtown Los Angeles . P lease note that this role may be eligible for a flexible working schedule that allows for a hybrid and in-office presence.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years’ experience with financial systems and custom development
  • Experience in stakeholder management and vendor management required, with the ability to translate business needs into technical data solutions and collaborate with data platform, architecture, and engineering teams

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in financial systems strategy development, including designing data architectures, defining enterprise metrics, establishing data governance standards, and enabling data-driven decision-making preferred
  • Experience with SQL and modern development practices, including building and optimizing scalable data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data models that support analytics, reporting, and metric automation, preferably
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-organize, collaborate, and manage efforts with peers and teams across the department
  • Display the ability to self-motivate and question current state practices
  • Possess the ability to inform, educate, and develop team members, peers, and customers to grow expertise, develop alignment, and encourage collaboration, as well as the ability to present ideas concisely and in an informative manner to both large and small audiences

Responsibilities

  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining financial systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness, ensuring alignment with the firm’s strategic goals
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in financial data structures and processes
  • Driving the modernization of financial reporting and systems by applying strong SQL skills, using established data design patterns, and following disciplined procedural development practices
  • Maintaining strong relationships with financial system vendors, managing performance, and ensuring alignment with firm priorities
  • Working cross-functionally with internal teams and vendors to manage strategic goals, focusing on modernizing and documenting current processes
  • Protecting and maintaining any highly sensitive, confidential, privileged, financial, and/or proprietary information that Latham & Watkins retains
