The Associate Director of Finance is responsible for ensuring that BD’s Medication Management Solutions (MMS) business revenue recognition is recorded accurately and in compliance with all relevant accounting standards. This role also provides strategic guidance to the business and leads the transformation from legacy to modern monetization models. This position is critical to maintaining the integrity of financial statements and supporting strategic decision-making. You will oversee the month-end financial close processes for a ~$2.7B USD portfolio and provide revenue recognition guidance to other regions. Additionally, you will contribute to special projects as they arise. The role reports to the Senior Director of Finance, US Region , and involves close collaboration with various functions across the organization, based in our San Diego offices (Torrey View Ct).

Requirements

Undergraduate Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics.
CPA required
10+ years of progressive finance experience, combining corporate and public accounting settings within mid-to-large organizations.
Strong expertise in ASC 606/IFRS 15 and managing large-scale revenue portfolios.
Strong knowledge of financial principles, and internal controls.
Proven ability to operate effectively in a matrixed organization.
Excellent communication, presentation, stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present to C-suite levels.
Advanced financial modeling and project management capabilities.
Proficiency with MS Office Suite such as Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, including high proficiency and experience with Excel.
Knowledge and experience with ERP systems such as SAP, SAP-BPC.

Nice To Haves

Industry experience in Medtech and SaaS (software, hardware, consumer-focused) preferred
Prior experience with SaaS revenue recognition is a strong asset

Responsibilities

Provide expert guidance on complex revenue accounting matters, including non-standard and high-value contracts, ensuring alignment with U.S. GAAP and corporate policies.
Partner with Corporate Accounting and external stakeholders to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting.
Conduct in-depth technical accounting research and prepare well-documented conclusions on revenue recognition issues.
Review and assess complex transactions and account reconciliations, ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory standards.
Lead the implementation of new revenue recognition standards and evolving monetization models across the organization.
Establish and enforce consistent revenue recognition policies and procedures across all platforms and business units.
Demonstrate adaptability in working with various financial systems, including SAP, and interpreting source documentation.
Apply a strong understanding of accounting principles, financial close processes, internal controls, and financial statement preparation to daily operations.
Design and optimize accounting workflows to improve efficiency in revenue tracking and reporting.
Support project-related initiatives, including system upgrades, process improvements, and testing activities.
Own SOX compliance for revenue recognition, including testing, documentation, and coordination with internal and external auditors.
Collaborate cross-functionally to provide accounting and finance support to business partners.
Serve as a subject matter expert on technical accounting questions and emerging issues.
Provide leadership within the Revenue Recognition team by driving process, system, and organizational improvements.
Mentor and develop direct reports, while also offering guidance and support to broader finance and accounting teams.
