The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of School of Social Work prospects at the level of $10,000 or greater from individual alumni and friends of the School of Social Work. The Associate Director will also solicit and close major gifts of $100,000 or greater as feasible and will have other related responsibilities. This position will work collaboratively with the other members of the advancement and communications teams to craft donor engagement and solicitation strategy, draft proposals and create stewardship plans. Up to 50% travel is required. While most of the travel will be in-state, out of state travel will also be occasionally required. In collaboration with the Dean and Associate Dean, the Associate Director will build relationships with the school’s leadership, faculty, and key donors and prospects and will have significant interaction with alumni volunteers. The Associate Director will plan an integrated program of activities that will maximize initiatives tailored to develop each prospect’s awareness, understanding, involvement and commitment to the School of Social Work’s priorities. This includes celebratory events, high touch contact with prospects, reporting to volunteers, and stewardship. The Associate Director will also assist with management of the School of Social Work’s Board of Advisors. The position will be located in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.
