About The Position

The Associate Director of Development for UF Parent & Family Giving for Family and Campus Development is responsible for implementing a broad range of fundraising activities in support of university-wide & Academic College initiatives and building a pipeline of parent major gift donors. Reporting to the Director of Parent & Family Giving, the incumbent is responsible for assisting in developing and executing the parent & family giving fundraising program and strategy to fulfill the financial and strategic needs of UF Advancement. Portfolio Management Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of university-wide & Academic College initiatives with a donor centric mentality. Strategically manage relationships through face-to-face visits to bring gift solicitations to closure. Maximize travel plans to geographic regions associated with the incoming first year parent class. Focus on regions saturated with the most $100K+ rated major gift parent prospects. Focus on non-alumni parents with capacity of $100K+ Increase annual giving solicitations for parent donors who decline Council membership UF Parent & Family Giving Program Assist Director with managing a comprehensive parent & family giving program, which includes recruitment, communication, and events for the UF Gator Family Giving Council (GFGC).). Utilize data, unit partners, volunteers, and other leads to grow the overall Parent & Family Giving Program. Develop new funding initiatives to broaden the university’s donor base and build new donor parent pipelines. Develop and present major gift proposals, and acknowledge and recognize gifts in ways that are meaningful to donors and appropriate to the mission, vision, and values of the unit, UFA/UFF. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the Division of Student Life and other key campus stakeholders to facilitate information exchange, joint programming, and clear communication regarding parent and family programs. Serve on work groups that support campaign, fundraising, and strategic planning efforts for programs and initiatives involving parents. Support engagement and communication with the Gator Family Giving Council members, prospects, and donors in support of activities and events. Development Strategies Focus on identifying and qualifying prospective parent donors and acquiring new active council members, utilizing strong research and broad outreach strategies. Assist Director with initiating, planning, and support of activities and events involving parent and family council members, volunteers and prospects. Engage Gator Family Giving council members and donors at events. Coordinate individual engagement and stewardship plans for qualified major gift parent prospects. Assist and maintain collaborative relationships with key campus stakeholders to facilitate information exchange, joint programming, and clear communication regarding parent and family programs. Develop and attend programs and events on and off campus where parent donors are present. Administrative Ensure best practices in alignment with UF Advancement’s Vision and Values; ensure best practices in office systems, practices, files and record keeping; ensure effective use of strategic tools and resources.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization and three years of relevant experience.
  • The ability and willingness to travel.
  • A valid driver license and good driving record are essential.

  • Two - three years of fundraising experience with proven success soliciting to major gifts.
  • Prior experience in a university or nonprofit environment.
  • Passion and a deep appreciation for initiatives supporting students.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to engage effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of individuals are essential.

  • Proficient in the following areas: Windows operating systems, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, as well as internet browsers and email platforms.
  • Familiarity with donor databases, contact management systems, and tracking systems is also highly preferred.
